Coed Tir George
An idyllic woodland retreat to support bereaved families

Coed Tir George (George’s Woodland Retreat) is a social enterprise being set up to provide bereaved families with a place to be in nature, to feel nurtured and supported away from their daily lives and routines.
The picturesque location nestled at the foot of the Black Mountain on the edge of the Bannau Brycheinog (Brecon Beacons) National Park is the perfect place for those who have lost loved ones to find solace and healing in nature. It is set within the grounds of Ty’r Cwm Farm, a working farm that dates back to the 1800s, which is also home to the family run business – The Baker’s Pig.
The project was set up by Liz and Andrew Baker who lost their son George to cancer in 2009. They drew their inspiration from their own experience during their bereavement and the support they received from LATCH – Welsh children’s cancer charity.
It is their mission to ‘provide a safe and healing space for every family who has lost a child to cancer‘.
